Our great-grandfather, Andrew James Symington, came to Portugal in 1882. He married Beatrice
Leitão de Carvalhosa Atkinson and so began our family’s legacy, which has been growing here for
over a century.
We have decided to commemorate this moment and to tell our story. During the intervening 130
years, our family has kept this legacy alive and we have cared for one of our greatest treasures,
which has been handed down from generation to generation.
It connects us to our past and it will help guide us into our future. It reminds us of our inherited
legacy and of our responsibility to the future. It is one of our most cherished memories – and
memories come in many forms…
